BGA rework/Reflow
We are now able to reflow/reball most types of BGA chips using our state of the art rework system. To reflow a mainboard, we preheat the board to a specific temperate to minimize thermal shock and prevent board warp. We then heat up the BGA component involved until the solder under it melts and reflows, thus restoring the original factory connections. In extreme cases we may need to remove the actual BGA chip, reball it and then re-fit it to the board.
In our experience, the below items most commonly suffer from this type of fault.
HP DV6000/DV9000 Laptops
Powers on okay, but no display, no POST beeps
Corrupted Display
Display driver is installed, but colour depth cannot be changed to 16/32 bit
HP S3000 slimline media desktop
Powers up but no display
Xbox 360
RROD Errors [excluding E74], Corrupted graphics during gameplay. With this error we will also replace the X-Clamps on the CPU and GPU. Without this the fault will reoccur.
Others
If your laptop or desktop system contains an Nvidia chipset and it’s powering up, but with no display, or has a corrupted display, then reflowing will probably fix it.
